![]() I wanted to share a quick picture of this simple little pumpkin patch I put together for favors for our "Welcome" banner class last night - so much fun! These are all made from the Round Tab punch (is this retired now?) with a little stem of grosgrain and a few leaves added. I did a range of colors for fun, too: Pumpkin Pie (of course!), Tangerine Tango and Cajun Craze. Thanks, Brenda for our fancy cupcakes, as well - cute AND yummy! Here are last night's Welcome Banner class instructions, such as they are, as well - enjoy!

So, after the awesome and inspiring Stampin' Up! convention this summer, I came home inspired to try some new things, both with my "business," and my activities. As happens so often to me, an opportunity arose almost right away to put me to the challenge!
I was approached by Encore University ("Adventures in Lifelong Learning") about offering a couple short and easy classes for their students. After some discussion, we matched me up in a fun suite of classes, called "Let Us Entertain You," that featured 5 different classes that cover a range of entertainment topics, from invites and favors (those were my offerings!) to table settings, cooking and flower arranging. I decided I was game for it, and worked hard to be able to offer the classes for no fee, by using all retired materials, though current stamp sets. If you're interested in the projects, they are pictured below, and here are the Simple Invites instructions, and the Simple Favors instructions. Three basic invites with coordinating favors, in two classes, 1 hour each! It was a blast! I think they enjoyed it, and I'll wait to hear their feedback - a fun way to find a happy home for retired stock! ![]() Well, I don't know about you guys, but we're growing MY church the old-fashioned way - having lots of babies! We recently welcomed a new curate, and his wife is due early November - time for a party! In true Episcopal fashion, we like to do it up "right," so I of COURSE volunteered to do favors again - yay! Ever since Max & Ellie, I've had another baby shower favor idea burning a hole in my brain, and this was my chance! How cute is it to turn one of our classic "nugget jar" favors into a baby bottle?? After a week or so of trying to make a punch art nipple (I really tried to not say "nipple" on my blog, I swear), I ended up doing the top by doctoring up a baby bottle clip art I found, and then sizing it to fit our jars. For those wanting to try this themselves, here's a printable of those tops - 30 per sheet, ready to cut out! It worked out to 143 baby bottles - it was like a baby ward around here! Perfectly Preserved (retired) stamp set; Cannery Set framelits; Whisper White & Pretty in Pink (retired) CS; every scrap of retired DSP in any pink I have; Basic Black & Strawberry Slush inks; Oval, 7/8" Circle & 1 1/4" Scallop Circle punches; Pink Perle Cotton. ![]() In keeping with all things "flippin'," I had one last feature of the thinlet card sets that I didn't get to squeeze into the class - so I squeezed it onto a SUPER simple treat (we always have a bite of chocolate, right??) The Label Card thinlet set features two 3-D banner shapes, that come all scored and ready for adding just the right touch of extra dimension to your projects. In this case, I did a simple DSP and ribbon wrap on a Ghirardelli Square, and then added a popped-up banner on top, with a "thx" from the Circle Card thinlet set. I had to show it ALL for this class! The curvy banner is totally cool, too - perfect for holiday cards! Here are tonight's Flip Class Instructions as well! Label Card & Circle Card thinlets; Modern Medley DSP; Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon; Very Vanilla & Cherry Cobbler CS. So, here are our bonus class projects - another reversible clothespin wreath! We'll be doing one for Halloween - "Spooky" and one for Thanksgiving - "Thankful." All materials prepped and ready for you, and as an added bonus, we'll be using some of the Paper Pumpkin background stamps as well - perfect, right?? These are also shown at My Pumpkin Challenge, of course - woo hoo! Make sure to RSVP for Thursday, Aug 29 at 6:30 pm for evening, or Friday, August 30 at 930 am for the day class. Can't wait to see you all! PS. I had to show you his hilarious commercial we got to see at Convention - from the commercial contest! This one was 4th place, but it was MY favorite! Yay, pumpkins! Don't forget - there's still a special going for $10 for the first two months if you subscribe by Aug 31 - contact me with any questions! ![]() Oh cool, time for another installment of My Pumpkin Challenge's August "All Goes!" This time, I knew I wanted use more of the latest kit - "Party Pennants." The size of the banner pieces really made me think of a gift bag - how to dress it up?? So I started by rooting through my accessory stash to see what I had in the coordinating colors, and this is where I ended up! I also got a chance to break out the awesome Simply Created Build A Banner kit - even if you never make a banner (and I don't know why you wouldn't!) the stencils alone are worth their weight in gold! I used one of them to place the polka dots on my gift bag - worked like a charm! I'll be saving this for hubby's birthday in October - yay! July Paper Pumpkin - Party Pennants; plus, Kraft gift bag (eBay by the case!); Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango & Island Indigo inks; Apothecary Accents Framelits; Essentials Piercing Template; Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon; Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin; Simply Created Build A Banner kit. ![]() Also, for this week's Paper Craft Crew #54, I knew I wanted to pull out my new "Thanksgiving" sets, and maybe make something autumnal out of them. This is the result. I have to say, I find Sahara Sand to be a challenging color to work with! I decided that I thought it was best set off with white, but that sort of clashed with my Fall theme, so, well, I feel like I've been tinkering long enough, and it's time to stop! I think it should be like emissions, lol. You know, after you've spent enough $$ on a bad test, you get to stop where you are? After you spend enough time on a card, you have to be courageous enough to quit while you're ahead! Sahara Sand & Always Artichoke get to be one of my new fave color combos, though! Make sure to stop by Paper Craft Crew and play along - can't wait to see what YOU can do! Truly Grateful & Magnificent Maple stamp sets; Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke & Whisper White CS; Sweater Weather DSP; Early Espresso, Crushed Curry, Always Artichoke; Cajun Craze & Soft Suede inks; Deco Labels & Bitty Banners framelits; Woodgrain embossing Folder; Regals Candy Dots. ![]() Ahhh, the DSP stash is starting to go down - whew! Thank you to everyone who pitched in, and now has a LOVELY wreath to show for it, too, giggle! Here's a quick picture of Brenda Quintana's glorious Hershey Stars I made for our gifts - helps make up for the funky dessert, oops! Might need to run get cookies for today's day class, lol! Here is tonight's class sheet for your fil - enjoy! And make sure you mark your calendar for Thursday July 25, for my post-convention Open House - goody bags, treats, pictures and swaps - it'll be a fun night! No class (so FREE!), just lots to see and be inspired by! (And PRESENTS!) This is your chance to weigh in on future class projects, too - I can't wait to share all the creativity I know I'll see in Salt Lake City! ![]() So, with so many graduating seniors this week in our little gang, I figured we'd push a week for class, and have our first official class of summer! I'm pretty psyched to add another shadow box insert to our collection: here's one for Father's Day! You could make it say something else, too, if you wanted it to be more generic. Like maybe, "Dude!" That would be hiLARious! To go with, we also have two quick but dramatic cards, both designed with the idea of keeping them generically masculine, just in case you don't need a Father's Day card - what do you think? There are numerous images and sentiments to swap out very easily to meet your needs! So, RSVP today for our All About the Guys Class, Thursday, May 30, 630 pm, chez Heroldt; or, if you need a day class, Friday, May 31, 10 am, also chez Heroldt! And just to put another bug in your ear, your gift this month is your brand spankin' new 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog - I have them waiting for you already! Can't wait to see you all! ![]() Fellow parishioners already know - we have some pretty big news at St Barnabas this summer - our beloved Rev. Erika has two little ones on the way - EEEEE! As soon as I heard about the plans for a baby(-ies!) shower, I jumped in and begged to do the party favors - I don't get to do enough of those now that we're out of elementary school and in grouchy middle-school, gr. So today was R&D for that - what do you think? I had thought I would just do a take on the cute Easter favors I did recently, but then I remembered some cute onesie cards I did a while ago for someone's thank you's. I thought, can I miniaturize that? Turns out I can! Pretty sure I'll be doing the onesie one, half green and half purple, for variety. Let cuteness abound! Patterned Occasions stamp set; Apricot Appeal (retired), Certainly Celery (about to retire) and Almost Amethyst (retired) CS; Two Tags die; Word Window punch. ![]() Here's a quick picture of our little treats from class tonight - just big enough for a little bite of chocolate! And here are tonight's class instructions - enjoy! |
